Memories through the years 1989 -

"Then the word of the Lord came to me saying: 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. 'Then said I: 'Ah, Lord God, Behold I cannot speak, for I am a youth.' But the Lord said to me; 'Do not say, I am a youth, For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you says the Lord."  Jeremiah 1:4-8

For each and every person who's calling in life is to be a missionary, the pathway is different. God works with each of us in different ways. Our starting points, personalities and backgrounds are different. He uses a wide variety of people to guide and help mold and shape you for the work that you were born to do. Some things however are the same. These words to the prophet Jeremiah  spoken centuries ago, I believe are as accurate for each of us today as they were when God spoke them to Jeremiah. A promise that you can hold on to no matter what the work that God calls you to, no matter where it may lead you.

And like Jeremiah it begins for each of us with an enexpected intervention in our daily lives where the word of the Lord comes saying......., and then what will you do? You either day "Yes Lord", or like Jeremiah in unbelief we protest and say "Oh Lord God I can't do this because..." Or we can simply harden our hearts and say "No." and then turn and waste years of our lives running from God. The latter was my story. But what you find, is you can run, but you cannot hide. That calling will simply keep coming back, over and over again, time after time, year after year at times when you least expect it. Romans 11:29 tells us The gifts and callings of God are without repentance." Or as the NKJV translates it "irrevocable"  In my own case, God finally brought me to the place where one night laying in bed alone thinking about what God had been saying, I came to the place where I asked myself the question, "If this is the will of God, how can I keep saying no?" and the obvious answer was that I couldn't, for if I did, my life would never amount to anything. so I said "Yes Lord, but I don't know how, or where to start, Lord you will have to show me." The following photos are a story in pictures of where that pathway has led in the years since.
